The architecture that solves the expansion problem

Silicon stores far more energy than graphite — but it expands dramatically during charging. That expansion cracks the material, destabilizes the electrode, and reduces capacity. Most silicon architectures can’t overcome this at commercial scale. Scaffold Prime® solves it by building the answer into the particle itself.

Step 1
Carbon scaffold
A porous hard-carbon scaffold is synthesized with precisely tuned internal void space — cavities engineered to accommodate silicon’s expansion.
Step 2
Silicon deposition
Silicon is infused into the scaffold via chemical vapor deposition, filling the void space without overfilling it. The silicon never contacts the electrolyte directly.
Step 3
Inward expansion
During charging, silicon expands inward into the pre-built void space, not outward against the electrode. The carbon shell stays intact. The SEI stays intact. Cycle after cycle — even at high charge rates.
