Strategically located in Sagunto, Spain, Group14’s third large-scale, global Battery Active Materials facility (BAM-4) will secure a critical European foothold to deliver advanced silicon battery material, SCC55®. Sitting at the center of Europe’s expanding clean tech ecosystem, BAM-4 will fuel next-generation electric vehicles, aerospace, AI-enabled devices, and more.
Supported by a €150M strategic backing from a new investor, BAM-4 cements Group14’s expansion into European advanced manufacturing. Located in Spain—Europe’s second-largest automotive manufacturing country—the facility positions silicon battery material directly adjacent to key European OEM supply chains.
With an initial capacity of 10 GWh in Sagunto, Spain, Group14’s next industrial-scale manufacturing module will expand its near-term global manufacturing footprint to 40 GWh adding to facilities in Moses Lake, Washington and Sangju, Korea. BAM-4 will deliver commercial silicon anode production to meet booming regional demand for high-energy-density, fast-charging lithium-silicon batteries.
Situated in Sagunto’s industrial hub, BAM-4 will enable seamless, localized delivery of SCC55® to Tier-1 European battery cell manufacturers and automotive OEMs. This direct-supply capability insulates automotive and tech partners from supply disruptions while speeding time-to-market.
By establishing a manufacturing base in Europe alongside facilities in North America and Asia, BAM-4 makes Group14 the most geographically dispersed silicon battery material producer in the world. BAM-4 will strengthen supply chain resilience, support European critical mineral and clean-tech autonomy, and drive the global transition to silicon batteries.
BAM-4 will provide direct, localized supply of SCC55® to key automotive, consumer electronics, and aerospace OEMs across Europe and globally. Group14’s worldwide manufacturing network delivers advanced silicon battery materials to partners representing over 95% of global lithium-ion battery production capacity.
BAM-4 will have an initial annual production capacity of 10 gigawatt-hours (GWh). This volume expands Group14’s near-term global production capacity to 40 GWh. This module will deliver commercial SCC55® silicon anode production to meet demand for high-energy-density batteries, aligning with Group14’s vision to deploy hundreds of gigawatt-hours of manufacturing capacity over the next decade.
BAM-4 is located in Sagunto, Spain. Its development is backed by a €150 million Series D equity extension.
As Europe’s second-largest automotive producer, Spain offers an ideal industrial center for battery manufacturing. Establishing BAM-4 in Sagunto allows Group14 to build directly adjacent to major European OEM supply hubs, ensuring secure, localized supply chains and boosting Europe’s clean tech manufacturing autonomy.
Group14 plans to begin construction on the BAM-4 facility in 2028. We will be working closely with local authorities and experts as we move through this process.
We expect to employ around 200 people during the construction and around 150-200 once operations begin.
