Field Application Engineer (Mandarin Speaker)
As a Field Applications Engineer (Mandarin Speaker), you will report to the Director of Technical Program Management. You are the link between R&D, product development, customers, and business development team. Your goal is to generate technical solutions and successfully communicate them with the customer. Curiosity is key and you will be required to provide expert analysis and support to the world’s leading battery scientists, enabling integration of our industry defining silicon-carbon composite active material into next generation battery technology.
This requires in-depth knowledge of the product, manufacturing, and lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries: You will become an expert in the details from material introduction to implementation, shepherding early-stage programs into qualification and providing technical support as needed to assigned customers. You will have daily contact with internal stakeholders and customers and must have excellent communication skills.
The Field Application Engineer will be responsible for engaging with Group14 customers, managing the support of product evaluations of Group14’s products. The candidate will assist, support, and advocate for customers in all phases of customer development and implementation in lithium-ion battery systems. To this end, the candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with the engineering, R&D, quality, operations, and business teams. Further responsibilities include supporting sales and marketing activities. Some domestic and international travel (Asia and Europe) will be required.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Be a customer “go to” product expert and support person for our silicon-based materials for Li-ion batteries.
You will be a subject matter expert in:
Properties of Li-ion battery materials.
Electrochemistry of Li-ion battery materials.
Evaluation and testing of Li-ion/silicon anode materials.
Customer qualification processes and activities.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
M.S. or PhD in Material Science and Engineering, Electrochemistry, Battery Science or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Working fluency in Mandarin language.
Knowledge of commercial electrochemical testing protocols and analysis.
Knowledge of energy storage devices and device components.
Understanding of appropriate electrochemical test methods and outcomes.
Ability to clearly present results and make technical recommendations to customer and management.
5+ years of sales and customer support experience.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.

Document Control Administrator
The Document Control Administrator will focus on quality systems. In this role, the Document Control Administrator will support the company by maintaining the integrity of the document control system to demonstrate compliance with company standards and certifying bodies.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Developing and maintaining the Document Control System across multiple sites
Maintaining user profiles within the system
Advising users on the proper procedures to create, edit and review documents

Director of Business Development
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to expand the company’s market share and revenue. They will work closely with the program management, customer technical support, marketing, product, and research and development teams to identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and build relationships with key customers and partners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving business growth in the battery materials, battery, or automotive industry.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Execute a comprehensive business development plan to drive revenue growth and market share expansion in both the Automotive and Consumer Electronics segments.
Build and lead a team of Business Development Managers.
Collaborate with internal business development program management, technical support, contracts, and other teams to ensure that our customer needs are met.
Negotiate and facilitate the execution of supply contracts and pricing agreements with customers.
Provide concise and regular updates on business development activities to the executive leadership team.
Identify new business opportunities by analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners, including OEMs and battery manufacturers.
Meet with customers, attend industry conferences and coordinate onsite customer visits.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that product development aligns with customer needs.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the battery materials industry, including emerging technologies and trends.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
BS or MS degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or other technology or equivalent job experience. MBA of PhD preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales in the battery materials, battery, or automotive industry.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills and experience working with customers.
Demonstrated track record of closing direct sales, supporting customers, and forming successful strategic alliances to drive revenue growth.
Ability to structure and negotiate contractual agreements with multiple parties. Expertise in revenue & other financial models.
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including to Asia and Europe.
Ability to work in a fast paced startup environment.
Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or German language skills are a plus.

Contracts Manager (Mandarin Speaker)
The Contracts Manager is responsible for negotiating and managing contracts for customer programs and clearly communicating on-going progress with all stakeholders. These include customer supply agreements, allocation agreements, etc. with global EV and CE battery makers. The Contracts Manager will be interfacing with Business Development, internal legal counsel, external legal counsel, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Finance. This role will support Group14’s efforts to supply the largest battery makers, EV OEMs, and consumer electronics companies in North America, Europe, and Asia.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Review, revise, and negotiate contracts which include supply agreements, allocation agreements, terms and conditions, and purchase orders in collaboration with Business Development and Legal. Escalate complex legal and factual issues to appropriate teams to assist in resolution.
Support Business Development Managers negotiate contracts – with a specific focus on Chinese customers and the Chinese market.
Lead efforts associated with the Contract Life Cycle Management of all contracts in support of battery qualification programs for automotive and consumer electronics customers.
Partner with internal stakeholders and customers to obtain the requirements needed for each contract; including internal Quality and Product teams for Quality and Technical agreements.
Monitor contract performance and compliance. Recommend and implement process improvements for contract compliance.
Provide concise and effective communications to key internal and external stakeholders on contracts progress.

Experience with automotive or battery customers or equivalent.

The Maintenance Manager will have a complete understanding of process equipment systems, as well as maintenance on machinery. This position will ensure that plant personnel have a safe work environment and that all physical plant systems are operating safely and efficiently. This position will lead the facilities maintenance department with 2-3 direct reports, as well as being hands-on in performing routine maintenance, while working closely with Process Engineering and Process Operators.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Facility/building maintenance (carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, HVAC, plumbing, welding and mechanical tasks)
Ensure daily maintenance and repair activities, work orders and projects are planned, logged, assigned, initiated and closed out.
Install and implement new and/or upgraded equipment.
Supervise, lead and manage all maintenance processes and operations.
Support Operations and Engineering by troubleshooting systems to identify necessary repairs.
Fabricate, assemble, install and inspect.
Manage maintenance projects as needed.
Develop, execute and expand a Preventive Maintenance program and work towards a tracking system with predictive maintenance practices, while being flexible to cover emergency maintenance.
Scheduling, budgeting, and evaluating repair cost estimates.
Oversee equipment stock, evaluate spare parts lists, and place orders for new supplies when necessary.
Prepare, review and negotiate budgets, bids and contracts with outside suppliers and contractors.
Plan, review and discuss project specifications, milestones and timelines with stakeholders.
Work closely with equipment manufacturers and engineers to understand proper equipment operations.
Participate in and help oversee projects driven by safety, quality, cost, and production capacity.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field from accredited College or University. MS in applicable Engineering discipline preferred.
5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Manager in a manufacturing/industrial environment – Chemical, Materials industry experience strongly preferred.
