Group14 is the world’s largest manufacturer of advanced silicon battery materials. We are transforming electrification and supporting local production of EV batteries in Lusatia, in support of our vision to strengthen localized battery supply chains and Europe’s clean energy economy. Group14 selected Germany for its European base of operations in 2023 when it acquired Schmid Silicon to secure local access to silane gas. Germany is an ideal location for Group14 to establish a foothold in Europe, due to its proximity to many of the company’s key partners and customers, and investors, including Porsche AG and BASF.
Securing our own silane supply gives Group14 uninterrupted access to a key raw material for manufacturing our advanced silicon battery material SCC55®. The factory is also expected to secure a domestic silicon battery supply chain and accelerate our material and process innovation.
