Group14 is playing an essential role in helping the world transition to an all-electric future. We call ourselves the “electrification of everything company,” and we don’t take this claim lightly. But as we see it, the electrification of everything can only be achieved through step-change advancements in battery technology today, not tomorrow. We designed our entire business, from the lab up, to be able to commercially scale the manufacturing of our advanced silicon battery material, SCC55™, rapidly and globally.
The implications of our commercially available, advanced battery technology are vast: electric vehicles (EVs), electronics and any technology that utilizes batteries can now last longer and charge much faster, making them more appealing to consumers and OEMs. Transforming lithium-ion batteries into silicon batteries, SCC55™ delivers up to 50% more energy density and can charge in minutes instead of hours — helping achieve cost parity for EVs while also opening doors to new possibilities for all applications.
We’ve invented a battery material that not only helps radically accelerate the global transition away from fossil fuels, but also helps usher in a new era of innovations to improve every aspect of our lives. No matter the battery platform, our materials will enhance it.
We see a world where everything that can be powered by a battery is powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts a long time, charges rapidly, and doesn’t fail us when we need them the most.

Electrification has a lot of different demands:
- It has demands that come from consumers.
- It has demands that come from manufacturers.
- It has demands that come from financial markets.
At Group14, we’re focused on a single material that can meet all of those demands, whether it’s extreme-fast charging or eradicating range anxiety through amazing battery life; to a drop-in material that can do all of this today; to really being able to scale alongside our partners with drop-in factories to deliver these materials, so that they themselves can scale to meet the demands of their customers.
When I personally dig into what the electrification of everything means, how we power things is of course at the core of it. But it’s also how we make that jump to a new technology that really changes the way we do everything in our lives and the way everything that we make comes back to us full circle.
For the past 150 years or so, that has been fossil fuels. And whether it is the clothes we wear or the tables we sit at for our meals, all of it is in some shape or another manufactured or delivered through fossil power.
When I really seek something that can help me, at least as a human, go to that new era, it’s here at Group14 — focusing on battery materials to shift us to an era of electrification, so that we continue to have clear skies, and we can really allow ourselves to strategically diversify what our needs are and how we deliver on these needs to power our lives.
