As we transition away from fossil fuels toward an electrified world, the performance of batteries will be critical. On episode 121 of Reby Media’s Engineering Matters podcast, CTO Rick Constantino sat down with hosts Alex Conacher and Tim Mays to discuss how Group14 is working on a new material that will boost the performance of batteries in the “lithium-silicon age” — just in time for the boom in demand.
“The demand is absolutely huge,” said Constantino. “It’s driven by all sectors, really. One of the huge demands in terms of volume of batteries, and materials for the batteries, are electric vehicles, because electric vehicles have a very, very large requirement for batteries. But there’s many, many industries, everything from your consumer electronics to avionics to medical devices.”
