- designing processes that protect our ecosystems and natural resources
- limiting and/or eliminating waste production
When building sustainability into our business, we take into account every aspect, from ways to build the most efficient manufacturing lines possible to sourcing readily available, ultra-high purity materials to defining last-mile logistics and harnessing the power of world-class waste abatement and recycling.
The world is rapidly changing. Group14 hopes to demonstrate that a new era of sustainable and environmentally responsible global manufacturing for advanced battery materials can be wildly successful and good for the planet. We are committed to meeting the expectations of a modern corporate citizen with sustainable products and practices “that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (Brundtland, 1987).

Environmental stewardship is a huge core value of Group14. [For] everybody who works here, part of [their] goal in life is to do something with [their] working life that helps the planet [and] helps some of the problems that we’re seeing out there.
Enabling the electrification of everything, we believe, is getting us a great step in the right direction. And so everywhere from just the material itself — transitioning from gas to electric — that’s a huge step, but our manufacturing process as well needs to be as clean as it can possibly be.
We focus heavily on the engineering, not just from “How do we make the material quickly and, and cost-effectively?”, but “how do we do it clean and responsibly?” as well. Actually we’ve eliminated most of our waste. We’ve invested in the best available control technology for all of our environmental abatement equipment. We put a significant amount of time, thought, and resources into making sure that our process is as clean as it can possibly be.
